Filming and Photography in the Museum
Museum Hof van Busleyden is a unique site and houses a valuable museum collection. Filming and photography for editorial or commercial purposes is permitted only with the museum's prior approval. Where necessary, a member of staff will accompany photographers or film crews during their museum visit.
The museum reserves the right to review recorded material before broadcast. If a film crew departs from the agreed filming plan without prior permission, the museum reserves the right to halt the recording.
What is permitted?
• Filming and photography without a flash or tripod, except for certain works in the museum. These are clearly marked with a 'no photography/filming' symbol.
What is not permitted?
- The use of smoke, mist or atmospheric effects.
- Leaving film or photographic lighting on for longer than necessary.
- Lighting levels exceeding 50 lux.
- Moving artworks or altering gallery displays.
Practical Tips
Film and recording equipment can be loaded and unloaded via the entrance on Sint-Janstraat. Please arrange this in advance with your museum contact. Please note! Many streets in Mechelen are traffic-restricted during certain hours. This includes Sint Janstraat, where the museum is located: vehicles are not permitted between 11 am and 6 pm. Entering the street during those hours will result in a fine.
