In Burgundian Dining you’ll discover the shared culture of food and drink in the Low Countries during the 15th and 16th centuries. Join your guide for the exhibition’s four-course journey: from lavish banquets in city palaces and the heat of the kitchens to bustling urban markets, before ending with the delicate balance between abundance and scarcity.
What can you expect?
During the tour you will:
- Explore Burgundian-Habsburg court etiquette and banquet culture
- Meet the ordinary people of the period, who had no place at the richly laden tables
- Experience the exhibition through sight, sound, touch and smell
- Discover the highlights among more than 80 works of art and historic objects
- Discuss the balance between too much and too little, moderation and excess
This is an interactive tour, with time to look closely at the works of art and uncover their hidden stories. Your guide will adapt the pace to suit your group, with plenty of time for questions.

- Price of the guided tour: 90 euros + an admission ticket for each participant (Museum Pass holders receive free admission, and only pay for the guided tour)
- Maximum of 15 participants per guide.
- Duration: 1 hour

Can I move my booked tour to another date?
After booking, you’ll receive confirmation from Visit Mechelen with all the practical details and payment information. Payment is required no later than seven days before your visit. You can amend or cancel your booking free of charge until that point. After that, changes and cancellations are no longer possible.
